Mexico City is divided up into 16 delegaciones, similar to the boroughs of New York, which in turn are divided into “colonias” (neighborhoods). The city is located 7000 meters above the sea level. Some people not used to high places may experience difficulties when breathing, however these symptoms fade a few soon after arrival.

Chapultepec Park is a large park in the middle of the city, in fact it’s the largest park within a city worldwide.
At some places the park is exactly as it was centuries ago, at other places in the park you will find all kinds of entertainment for young and old. In the park you will also find the city Zoo and several museums such as the Modern Art Museum, the Museum of Anthropology, the Children’s Museum (Museo del Papalote), the Technology Museum, the Natural History Museum and the National Museum, also known as Castillo de Chapultepec.

The floating gardens, which are seven hundred years old, known since the Aztecs, are another part of the city’s cultural past. It’s a system of waterways and flower gardens where tourists can enjoy a trip in the “trajineras” (vividly-colored boats). Guides will tell you everything from the history of the gardens to how to grow the plants you’ll find there. A lot of boats will have Mariachi or marimba bands on board.

You will find more museums in Mexico City than in any other city in the world. The National Museum of Anthropology Chapultepec is one of the best museums worldwide. The ruins of Teotihuacan are another great place to visit. Teotihuacan, The City of the Gods, is an Aztec archeological site 40 km northeast of Mexico City.
For amusement parks, go to Six Flags Mexico, Carretera Picacho al Ajusco #1500 Col. Héroes de Padierna, Southwest of Mexico City. It is the largest amusement park in Latin America. The park is fitted with several million-dollar attractions, including Batman the Ride and not for the heart-fainted Medusa Roller Coaster. Another place to go is La Feria de Chapultepec, Circuito Bosque de Chapultepec Segunda Seccion. It features the first roller-coaster in the country, a must for roller coaster fans, and many other attractions. Open Tuesday-Sunday 10 AM – 6 PM.
